Cruise Bruise: False Imprisonment - Sexual Assault By Crew Member
Bruise Location: Bahamas
Age: Female Minor Child
Home Town: New York
Cruise Line: Disney
Ship: Disney Wonder
Details:
The parents of a minor female child have filed a federal law suit in Orlando Florida against Disney Cruise Lines after their daughter was allegedly sexually assaulted by a crew member.
The family is from New York, and boarded the ship in Port Canaveral for a cruise to the Bahamas.
The suit seeks damages of $75,000, alleging the crew member "falsely imprisoned, sexually assaulted, exposed himself to, and intentionally inflicted emotional distress" on the girl.
The lawsuit indicated the victim's parents reported the incident to the ship's captain while the ship was at sea.
Disney spokeswoman Rena Langley said that Disney Cruise Lines takes the allegation very seriously.
Langley said the cruise line was notified of the allegation in October and contacted the FBI and Bahamian law enforcement.
Langley further stated the two agencies worked with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, and no charges have been filed.
She also reported the crew member no longer works for Disney.
