According to sheriff's reports, the organizer cashed their checks then paid for the cruise using someone else's credit card. The owner of that credit card, filed a complaint.with Carnival saying the charges were unauthorized.
At least 40 people paid over $300 each for a four day cruise on a Carnival cruise.
The suspect in this case is Joan Dobbs, age 40.. When deputies went to talk to her, they found out she was at the Lee County Jail on unrelated charges.
Joan Dobbs also prepared payroll for the Moose Lodge in Fort Myers. The administrator said money started disappearing and checks started bouncing while she was in charge.
Deputies are urging anyone who may have been a victim in this cruise case to contact the Lee County Sheriff's Office at 239-477-1000.
