Jim Yu was enjoying himself on the cruise, having won $1500 at the casino earlier in the evening while celebrating his daughter's birthday. Yu speaks no english, and walks with a cane. But, apparently another passenger took note of his good fortune, and targeted him for a quick crime.
Yu took a trip to the restroom onboard, and was followed by another man. The man took Yu's cane away from him in the restroom, beating him in the head. Yu tried to shield his head and took blows to his hands and arms. he was unable to cry out for help because he doesn't speak english. The man then left Yu beaten and batttered, but not before stealing his wallet.
Another passenger saw the thief, and once spotted, the man threw the wallet overboard. Security was approaching at that time, and saw the man throwing the wallet overboard. They noted at that time he had blood splatters on him. At this point, the man fled.
Yu was taken to an area hospital due to the severity of his injuries, where he was treated for two days then released. His family is sickened by the experience.
The investigation continues.
