Cruise Line Sued For Failing To Disclose Ship Was Designated Gay
The question a court will answer after the recent lawsuit was filed, is does the cruise line owe passengers a refund when they let a group book a cruise and that group, a minority demographically, becomes the majority demographic on a cruise, a fact the cruise line was privy to before they let a few who do not fit those demographics fill those last few cabins?
This all-gay cruise was booked directly with Grimaldi Lines for a 3-day voyage from Civitavecchia, Italy to Barcelona, Spain. In gay circles it was dubbed Revuelta (Revolution), a telling name in itself. In straight circles, that fact was likely never known.
When the married couple arrived ( for some reason their names have been withheld) after paying £2,800 ($4,500) for their cruise, they discovered the media had arrived in large numbers. They allege, they just thought the media was there to cover somebody famous. Instead, as the story goes, they learned the media frenzy was for Italy's first gay cruise.
There was also some shocking 'coming out' issue. Seems after boarding the couple allegedly discovered some friends of theirs were aboard and they had no idea the friends were gay.
More surprising is that neither the wife nor the husband had any idea at all these friends they allegedly did not know were gay, were on the same cruise. What are the odds?
I can't begin to imagine how any two people could have a friend and not know they were gay. There are some other scenarios that are much more believable when it comes to his particular couple and their friends. I will leave that for you to figure out for yourself.
