Female Passenger Overboard Off Celebrity Soltice Between Greece And Italy
Another female passenger has been reported missing on a cruise ship.

On Friday November 6, 2009 an elderly woman was seen going overboard from the Celebrity Cruises' Solstice around 2100 hours local time.

The incident was reported by a passenger who saw the woman falling from deck 14 of the cruise ship several hours after the ship had left Santorini,Greece, about 22 nautical miles south of Milos.
The Greek coast guard and navy continued the search on Saturday, without results.

The account of the incident was reported by numerous passengers aboard and by the Celebrity Cruises.

Celebrity Solstice began a 10-night of the Eastern Mediterranean on Friday October 30, that departed from Civitavecchia, Italy.

The cruise ship will return to that port on Monday November 9.

The woman has not yet been publicly identified.
A search of the ship began with announcements over the public address system and Solstice was turned around to begin a search.

Video aboard confirmed the woman had gone overboard and she was identified.

The Greek authorities and the U.S. Federal Bureau Of Investigation (FBI) were notified with the Greek navy and coast guard joining in the search.

The search continued by the cruise ship until around 0345 hours when the ship was released from the search efforts.
