A Dozen Passengers Die In Philippines Ferry Accident

Twelve people were killed and 57 rescued after a ferry sank in waters south of the Philippine capital on Saturday, the coast guard said.

The boat, the MV Commander 6, was carrying people from Batangas to a resort beach on the island of Mindoro when it was hit by large waves which cracked its hull, causing the vessel to sink, the coast guard report said.
Coast guard rescue vessels and private boats rushed to the scene to rescue the people. There were no immediate reports on whether any of the people onboard were still missing.

The boat had only 42 people on its manifest, indicating that many people had boarded without being listed, coast guard officials said.

New Kids On The Block Cruise Irks Some Fans

NKOTB fans paid $1000 to cruise from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. to the Bahamas with the boy band, and many say they would never do it again. Fans expected performances, meet and greets and mingling among the passengers.

Instead, they found out the NKOTB body guards would largely keep the not-so-new kids under wraps, and mostly in a VIP area not accessible to most passengers.

New Kids On The Block is comprised of Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight and Jonathan Knight.

It was clear fans were expecting more, according to all the pre-cruise tweeting that was going on at Twitter. Women, some of them married, tweeted the boys constantly, some with very personal messages, really thinking they would get an answer from the boys themselves. These were the same fans expecting to get to rub elbows with their favorite "Kid".

Many of the fans thought they were somehow special, and were expecting special treatment on the cruise. The reality has set in that NKOTB were there to help the cruise line fill the ship, and do little else.  When not on the clock it was vacation time, that did not include fans.

It seems only Donnie Wahlberg would give the fans what they wanted, being pleasant and letting the fans adore him.
