Back In Service

Cable company just left, modem was fried in the storm. We are back up and running. It is hard to wrap my mind around the amount of important emails we get each day. This is going to take a while to weed through. Expect to see steady updates.

Passenger Injured Aboard Cruise Ship Saga Rose Died

One of the grandson's of artist Keith Shaw has updated us on the condition of his grandfather who was injured aboard the Saga Rose, when the ship hit rough seas during a Christmas holiday cruise and he was tossed out of his bed as reported last year.

Sadly Mr. Shaw passed away in the hospital last May after injuring his neck during rough seas.

In reading the sanitized Captains' blogs for that voyage there is no mention at all that the seas were rough or that rough seas resulted in an injury which then resulted in the medical evacuation of a person identified as a passenger.

That "passenger" was actually working aboard. Though one captain does say that they "sadly missed a port" because of the medical evacuation of a passenger.

When things go wrong at sea far from American or UK shores, getting news on the incident is very difficult. It is often, weeks, months or years before there is any sign that things went wrong as the cruise lines do their best to cover up the incidents. No amount of legislation in any country will change that fact.

I'm thankful to the many visitors who bring information to Cruise Bruise so these incidents can be documented. Our updated story is here.
