Mother's Day
Nobody in the world thinks Mother's Day is a long holiday weekend, with the exception of myself. As much time as I spend doing research, almost any holiday can work itself into an extended, long holiday weekend. For me, it began around lunch time on Friday, and now it is here around lunch time on Tuesday, and I am just beginning to think I should get back to the research.
The truth is I have kept my eye on things while I was suppose to be relaxing, and nothing terribly important took place that would prompt me to put down my gardening tools and come back to the keyboard.
It is that time of year, between too cold to get out and do yard work and too hot to pick up anything outside other than a garden hose. In a matter of only a couple more weeks, my work outside will have to end until fall. This means I have been hard at work trying to get the yard ready for summer, with this year's expansion of more plant life and foot paths.
The eighteen red rose bushes I planted a few weeks back are already in bloom, a beautiful sight for Mother's Day. That development urged me to work on the foot paths, get out my hanging baskets with annuals in them and to add another color to the garden.
It was not five days of rest, but it was five days of warm fuzzy. Since research is not so much a physical task but an intellectual one, getting a warm fuzzy going on, is more important that physical rest.
We have had so much rain, days and days of it, then maybe a half day or two of a mixture of clouds and sun, I really have to seize the moment when the weather permits work outdoors, as is the case again today.
It was welcome news that there was no news of anyone overboard on Mother's Day. That has not been the case every year, a sad end to a cruise, that will forever have more meaning to some families, than to others.
With Memorial Day right around the corner, you can expect that once again I will be off Friday to Tuesday. The liklihood that there will be a major incident Memorial weekend is high. Should, unfortunately, things take a turn for the worst that weekend at sea, I will update here. Otherwise, I hope the weather will allow me to bring my spring time, outdoor projects to a close.
Tomorow, I will update a few minor stories ready to post.
