Fire Aboard Royal Princess Worst Than Reported
The Princess Cruises Royal Princess liner was departing from Port Said as the blaze broke out, on the fifth day of a 12-night Holy Land tour from Rome to Athens.
A passenger aboard was tweeting on Twitter.com some photographs that show passengers filling the deck chairs to sleep on deck last night as well as photographs of smoke streaming from the vessel.
The fire was said to have originated in the engine room. However, this same tweeter said that smoke was coming from three different decks levels.
The ship was operating on operate on emergency power and will remain in port at least Friday and Saturday while Princess Cruises decides what to do with passengers after the damage is assessed.
